GO Outdoors: making customer engagement personal

The challenge

Digitise GO Outdoors’ successful loyalty programme, to make offers more personal and streamline loyalty management processes.

The story

As the UK's largest retailer of outdoor and sporting goods, GO Outdoors sells everything from camping, fishing and cycling equipment to specialised clothing, footwear and accessories.

It runs a successful Discount Card scheme for its large and loyal customer pace, which offers at least 10% off everything in-store, along with exclusive discount vouches. The scheme is growing rapidly, with 1.5 million members to date.

GO Outdoors wanted to reduce operating costs of sending discount vouchers via post, and gain the ability to send personalised offers directly to shoppers’ smartphones. In addition, the retailer wanted to reduce checkout times across its network of 49 stores.

The solution

Mobilize created a bespoke mobile loyalty​ app for GO Outdoors, enabling Discount Card scheme members to register through their smartphone, store a digital version of their loyalty card, and receive and redeem exclusive discount offers.

Customers simply download the app and present their device at the till for relevant, valid offers to be applied to the basket.

Reduced operating costs – fewer plastic cards and paper vouchers
Increased customer engagement – personalised offers, customers no longer need to worry about losing or forgetting their loyalty card
