Case Study: GO Outdoors
GO Outdoors is the UK’s largest retailer of outdoor and sporting goods. The company’s 49 stores sell a vast range of products from camping, fishing and cycling equipment to specialised clothing, footwear and accessories. GO Outdoors has a large and loyal customer base and runs a successful loyalty scheme (‘Discount Card scheme’) that offers at least ten per cent off everything in-store, and exclusive discount vouchers. The scheme is growing rapidly, with 1.5 million members to date. GO Outdoors wanted to reduce operating costs of sending discount vouchers via post, and to gain the ability to send personalized and relevant offers directly to their shoppers’ smartphones. In addition, GO Outdoors needed to achieve reduced checkout times (customers forgetting to bring their discount cards with them resulted in manual database searches at the till).
Mobilize created a bespoke mobile loyalty app for GO Outdoors, which is integrated with Mobilize’s M-CRMTM platform, and GO Outdoor’s point of sale systems. The app enables Discount Card scheme members to register, to store a digital version of their loyalty card, and to receive and redeem exclusive discount offers. Now customers simply download the app and present their iPhone at the till with their purchases. The customer is instantly identified, and relevant valid offers are applied to the basket.
